While staying on Koh Phangan Thailand, we decided to do something different for a change. We had been there for a while so even though there is lots to do there we felt we were getting into a bit of a routine and thought we should try something new and opted for a sunset boat trip.
We were just amazed how great it was. Some people we knew recommended that we go with Captain Kop’s boat tours so we contacted them and made arrangements. We left Wok Tum pier early afternoon and headed out to sea on a traditional Thai fishing boat. We first headed out towards Birds Nest Island (forgot the name) which is famous for collection of the swiftlet nests which are used the Chinese birds nest soup. The island looked beautiful but unfortunately we are not allowed there as these nests can command up to 50,000 use a kilo so the island is heavily guarded with no trespassers allowed.
We then headed north making our way to Koh Maa, here we stopped for a while so we could have a swim and snorkel which was really great fun, the crew of the boat didn’t mind us using the top of the boat as a diving platform which just added to the fun.
After about an hour we headed back down south again just in time to catch the sunset as it came in, we took it slow and it was nice to have a couple of drinks as the sun set to the west.
All in all it was a great trip and found it very affordable. If you ever find yourself at a lose end on Koh Phangan search out Captain Kops tours at Wok Tum and treat yourself to a sunset boat trip, you’ll enjoy it!
